Oral health is a very important part of keeping your dog or cat healthy. By age 3, most dogs and cats have some degree of periodontal disease. The concept that your pet may be suffering from oral pain may not be apparent, but oral health can significantly affect quality of life. Appropriate oral hygiene should be started at a young age: from brushing to using special dental treats/food.

Bacteria builds-up on your pet's teeth in the form of plaque, calculus, and gingivitis. The bacteria infects the tooth under the gum line and eats away at the roots of your pet's teeth.  This eventually causes pain, tooth loss, and difficulty eating.

 A periodontal cleaning and polish once a year will help keep your pet's teeth in the best possible health. We have an ultrasonic scaler and polisher to use while your pet sleeps contentedly under anesthesia. While under anesthetic your pet is monitored by one of our licensed veterinary technicians, using similar monitoring equipment that you would find in a human surgery suite.  If extractions are necessary, we are able to do this as well.
